opinvera legal terms
Changelog
Effective September 30, 2026 · Version 1.4
A record of material modifications to the OpinVera Legal Terms, maintained per Terms of Service §21.
| Version | Date | Summary of Changes |
|---|---|---|
| Unreleased | — | A partner account is a business seat with no voting rights (owner ruling, 15 October 2026, OS-242). Partner Terms: the preamble says the Partner Terms are the terms of the partner account itself and that the Terms of Service apply only where they say so; §1.1 rewritten (the account is created at sign-up with one click-through; the Partner Account is opened by the first claim); §1.6 (new) — no ballot, no circle, no verification purchase, no points; a person who wishes to vote creates a separate member account; the 18+ and authority-to-bind representations are given by the sign-up click-through, with no separate age confirmation. Terms of Service §1 gains Which terms apply to a partner account, pointing at the partner chapters. The legal index's partner section says the same. No version bump pre-launch; the one approval (LR-00) publishes the set. |
| Unreleased | — | Third-party sign-in named in the Privacy Policy (owner ruling, 15 October 2026, OS-239). Privacy §4.7 (new) says that Continue with Google, Apple, Facebook or LinkedIn sends the sign-in to that provider under the provider's own privacy policy, that the Google sign-in library derives an approximate location from the device's network while it runs, and that we do not receive or store that location; the §11(g) Geolocation row says the same instead of "None". Brings the text into line with the Coarse Location both store forms declared on 14 October 2026. No version bump pre-launch; the one approval (LR-00) publishes the set. |
| Unreleased | — | Launch footprint: the United States only, the rest of the world later (owner ruling, 13 October 2026). Country-Specific Provisions gain A.0 (where the Platform is offered; the legal entity and its Delaware registered agent) and A.1–A.3 are marked held ready; Terms §19 states the footprint and §9.7 and §22.6 are keyed to it; Privacy §2A gains Scope at launch (GDPR/UK GDPR not presently applicable, the practices kept as policy), §10 and §14A say the EU/UK/DSA representatives are appointed before the Platform is offered there; Partner Terms §6.3 and the Partner DPA §6 say the same for partners; the index dateline. No version bump pre-launch; the one approval (LR-00) publishes the set. |
| 1.4 | September 30, 2026 | Browser extension provisions activated ahead of the extension release: Privacy Policy §2B describes the extension's data operations (anonymous recognized-article lookup; address, headline and image address sent on submitting an unlisted article; optional, default-off usage statistics) with legal bases in §2A; Terms of Service §13 reinstated as the Browser Extension Supplement. |
| Unreleased | — | Privacy Policy §2 and §11(g) brought into line with the Google Play Data safety declaration (17 September 2026, PM-87/OS-86): birthday and gender removed from Contact Information (never collected); push notification tokens replaced by the device and installation identifiers our crash-reporting and analytics providers use; crash reports and diagnostic data added to Interaction Information; a Profile Imagery bullet added (profile photo and cover image); the CCPA Geolocation row changed to not collected (IP addresses are truncated before storage and never geolocated) and device identifiers added to the Identifiers row. Pre-launch and pending counsel review, so no version bump. |
| Unreleased | — | The "Polloton" registered-trademark references are removed from Terms of Service §12 and the legal index footer (owner ruling, 11 September 2026). The Polloton copyright registration (TXu 2-530-595) is retained in both places: it is the ownership assertion over the code and visuals this Platform is a subset of, and a new registration covering the OpinVera code and visuals is to be filed before launch, after which this reference is superseded rather than deleted. Pre-launch and pending counsel review, so no version bump. |
| 1.3 | September 7, 2026 | Merged the two divergent legal packages into one source at this repository. Added Child Safety Standards as chapter 10 — zero-tolerance CSAE/CSAM prohibition, the in-app reporting channel, the NCMEC reporting procedure and a child safety point of contact — mirrored as Prohibited Content §1A and Terms of Service §6.6, and required by Google Play for any app with social features. Data Deletion Request moves to chapter 11; its published URL is unchanged, because every page is served from its slug and not its file number. The Polloton public-beta and rebranding notice is not carried over and Terms of Service §1A does not exist: all three surfaces launch as OpinVera, so a clause describing a transition that will not happen would describe a state no user is ever in. The trademark and copyright-registration references to Polloton are retained — they are assertions of ownership, not branding. Carries forward the 30 August minors-consent change and the Data Deletion §4.2 clarification, both previously unreleased. |
| 1.0 | August 7, 2026 | Initial publication of the OpinVera Legal Terms (nine chapters: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Content and Behavior Policy, Restricted Content and Behavior Policy, Copyright/DMCA Policy, Fee Schedule, Country-Specific Provisions). |
